Our Philosophy

Based on a secular interpretation of Rudolf Steiner's humanitarian world view, The Garden's educational philosophy engages the head, the heart, and the hands to provide a broad, balanced, and holistic education that nurtures the whole human being.

We preserve the innocence and wonder of childhood through security and freedom; allowing children to move, explore, create, and play within a safe and predictable environment and rhythm. We practice and encourage peaceful parenting and wholesome living.

The focus of our world is the development of the whole human being. To further this aim, we strive to provide a beautiful, cohesive enrichment program that radiates learning, working, and playing. Creativity and artistic expression are essential in a child's healthy growth and development, and are fully integrated into our curriculum. We seek and embrace diversity in our community. We believe that the education of students, teachers and parents is a lifelong process. We strive to develop individuals who are able, in an of themselves, to impart meaning to their lives.

We "receive the child in reverence, educate them with love, and lead them to the true freedom" that belongs to an enlightened human being.
