Admission Process for 2019-2020

We are glad that you are considering applying to The Garden. It's important to put thought into choosing the village you want to allow to help raise your child and our admissions process is designed to explore that fit so that you can make the best decision for your family and we can make the best decision for ours.   1. Visit the school to see our dynamic curriculum and approach in action. Join us for one of our upcoming tours to ask any questions you may have about our school. Registration and dates available here

  2. Complete the application for admissions online via TADS by February 25, 2019, along with a non-refundable $100 application fee per child, and a photograph of your child.

  3. Submit required forms: Provide a Teacher Recommendation form to your child’s current or former teacher (if applicable) to submit and send to The Garden. The teacher evaluation forms are standard AAAIS delegated forms. You can find links to the forms here. Additionally, fill out the required form to have your child’s records released to The Garden.

  4. Schedule an observation day for your student to participate in the life of the school, and submit required assessment information.

    1. Kindergarten Observation Day: Your child will attend an observation morning on either March 8th or 9th from 10:00- 11:30 am.  This is a drop-off observation morning.

    2. Grades Observation Day: Students applying to the Grades Program are required to visit for two to three full days for evaluation and observation. These observation days will be held during a week in March (dates to be determined when application is submitted).

  5. Complete a family interview to review application packet and identify any potential needs or considerations. Both parents are strongly encouraged to be present. Before the interview, our Parent Handbook will be sent to you to read as part of the commitment we seek from Garden Families.

  6. Application for Tuition Assistance: If you will be applying for tuition assistance, applications and all required documentation are due via TADS by February 28, 2019. Please direct any financial questions to our Business Administrator, D. Andrew Chriscoe at finance@thegardenmarietta.org. Additionally, if you are applying for a merit scholarship, please submit the application by February 28, 2019.

Notification of Acceptance:

Decision letters and enrollment contracts will be mailed on March 29, 2019 and will be due back, with the initial payment, on April 11, 2019. These dates are set annually by the Atlanta Area Association of Independent Schools (AAAIS).

Admissions Timeline


Please note the following dates as you plan your application and enrollment.  Applications received outside of this timeline may be delayed or wait-listed, and are unlikely to be considered for indexed tuition.  

December 1st, 2018 – Standard enrollment season for the 2019-2020 school year opens. 

February 25, 2019 - Standard enrollment season for the 2019-2020 school year closes.  

February 28, 2019 – Tuition assistance applications for the 2019-2020 school year must be received in order to ensure eligibility.    

March 8 and 9, 2019 - Kindergarten observation days.

March 2019 - Grades observation days.

March 2019 - Family Interviews.     

March 30th, 2019 – Applicants will be informed of their acceptance status and of any financial assistance awarded, if applicable.
