Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: October 27 - 31, 2025

Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families,

Last week brought some autumn rain and cooler temperatures. Thank you for keeping the children warm and cozy in their layers. At school, we’ve been practicing putting on rain gear, and many children are able to put on their rain pants and jackets with just a little help. We encourage you to continue supporting this independence at home by letting your child practice putting on their outdoor gear on their own.

The Bluebirds had a blast stepping and jumping in the muddy puddles. In the forest, the children busily created birthday cakes, cookie soup, and vegetable dinners to share with their friends. One of the Bluebirds’ favorite activities had been making the witch’s brew. They worked together to fill a pot with “cocoa powder” and added all sorts of silly pretend ingredients—slimy worms, old socks, jumping frogs, and more. Their giggles rang through the forest as they chanted, “Boiling hot, boiling hot, what do you put in the witch’s pot?” The new balance beams in our forest classroom were a big hit with the Bluebirds! The children loved walking across and pushing trucks along the wooden boards. Some even imagined it was a boat that could carry them to “South America.” They used rakes as their paddles and worked together to sail across the ocean.

In the classroom, the children used Mr. Brush to paint their own nice red rosy apples, and they finished making their lanterns by adding wooden beads on the handles. This Wednesday and Thursday, we have our Lantern Walk. Following the gentle glow of candlelight, the children will walk through the sanctuary, holding their lanterns and singing the lantern songs. This beautiful tradition reminds us that each child carries a shining light within, giving brightness and warmth to even the darkest places. Thank you for your support and participation in making this festival so meaningful.

This Monday, we celebrated Marybelle’s birthday and enjoyed a lovely time with her and her family. We were so grateful for the delicious birthday treats. Thank you for sharing them with us!
