Second & Third Grade: October 20 - 24, 2025
Dear Second and Third Grade Families,
Over the past three weeks, the students have been reviewing spelling patterns, grammar skills, and sentence structure. This work culminated in group projects where they summarized the fables we read in class. Beginning with The Frogs Who Wished for a King, the students spent two days rewriting the story together. After much effort, one group’s version was selected to be written into each student’s main lesson book. The children were excited to see their writing edited as a class and recorded in their books. They should all feel proud of how hard they have worked and how much their writing has improved.
This week, we will conclude our fables block with the stories The Monkey as King, which will review consonant digraphs, The Lion and the Statue, which will review double consonants, and The Whale and the Bird, which will review silent letters. Our next block, Native American Stories and Legends, will be accompanied by a focus on math skills, including decomposing numbers, multiplication and division practice, continued work with addition and subtraction (both with and without regrouping), and multiplication circles.
