Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: December 1-5, 2025

Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families,

We began our week by learning a new circle-time song in celebration of our upcoming festival—The Winter Spiral.

Children are walking to get their little lights.
All the stars are watching them by day and by night.
Now they have their little lights,
And their faces are shining bright.
Carefully guarding the lights,
All through the winter’s night.

On Tuesday and Thursday, the children painted winter scenes using blue watercolor. As they carefully held their “Mr. Brush,” controlling the flow of paint and water and moving it thoughtfully across the page, they strengthened their fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination.

Returning to our forest classroom after a week away was a true highlight. The children eagerly engaged with the natural space, spending their time running, digging, chopping wood, and raking leaves. Last week, they also had a blast jumping in muddy puddles. Throughout this semester, they have built meaningful bonds with one another. When a child is absent, the rest of the class often asks about this friend’s well-being, and when someone gets hurt, they respond with genuine empathy and comforting hugs. It has been heartwarming to watch these long-lasting friendships grow within our classroom community.

We celebrated Emmie’s birthday yesterday. We were excited to spend time with her and her family on this special day, and thank you for the delicious birthday treats.

We will turn our focus to the Winter Spiral this week. The children will continue to hear a story about how Mother Earth and her creatures worked together to build an evergreen garden to light up the dark winter's nights. On Wednesday and Thursday, we invite Bluebirds parents to walk the spiral with your children. Please plan to arrive at 11:20 in the hallway, and the walk begins at 11:30. Thank you for your participation; we look forward to seeing you.

It’s hard to believe the Fall semester is already coming to a close. In our final week, we’ll be celebrating birthdays, making candles, sipping hot chocolate, and enjoying a cozy tea party. Please note that you do not need to send apples to school this final week of the semester.
