Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: August 25-29, 2025
Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families
Thank you so much for attending our Curriculum Night. We very much enjoyed seeing all who were able to join us and share about our class.
Our lovely Bluebirds fluttered through a delightful week. They enjoyed playing in this pleasant weather. The morning air is crisp and golden, which provides a sense of freshness to the children after the car ride. In the small playground, they dug in the sandbox, swung on the swing, and ran swiftly with the wind. After getting some morning exercise, we came to the building to get ready for the rest of the day. Changing into indoor shoes in the hallway was our first task. With assistance, the children were able to put on their slippers successfully. We also remind them to keep proper hygiene by washing their hands thoroughly. Once we were in the classroom, we sat together to sing and listen to a story. Last week, we introduced our first puppet show about a baby bluebird’s journey to the garden. The children listened with great interest. After story time, we gave thanks for our food and enjoyed a snack together. Gathering at the table fosters a sense of belonging. The children benefit not only from the nutritious meals served at the table but also from the relationships formed with their peers and teachers. Free indoor play, art, and forest play are among the fun activities that follow. Free play allows children to express their creativity and learn from social interactions. In the forest, the children saw many wonderful creatures that sparked their curiosity. They watched a fuzzy caterpillar eating through a big leaf, as well as a slug moving slowly on the tree. By the end of a fun morning, our friends were happy to see their families and ready for a restful afternoon at home.
This week, we will introduce watercolor painting to the children. Wet-on-wet watercolor painting allows children to explore the dreamy world of colors, fosters imagination, and enhances fine motor skills. Moving brushes gently on the paper and observing color spreading formlessly can also create a calming mood for young children to fully express their inner life.
Announcements & Reminders:
We are starting to collect goldenrods and marigolds to dye silk for the Day of Courage. If you have some in your garden or see some on your nature walk, please help us by picking some and bringing them to school later this week and early next week. If you have extra turmeric powder at home and would like to share some with us, we would greatly appreciate it. Turmeric powder can also be used as a natural dye medium. Thank you very much!
