Kindergarten Honeybees: January 27 - 31, 2025

Dear Honeybee Families,

We send out thanks to those of you who were able to join us for our Curriculum night and/or our All School Meeting!

Last week, we enjoyed some cool, clear days—a welcome break from the recent cold and rainy weather! We began a new story, a Ukrainian fairy tale, about forest creatures who discover a lost snow-white mitten on the ground and decide to explore it. The students listen attentively, building their imaginations as they visualize each animal climbing into the mitten one by one until, eventually, they all pop back out when the bear sneezes! This week, we’ll bring that story to life through a puppet show and play. One of our Winter Circle songs is about woodsfolk sawing trees, which has inspired many of the children to use a real saw on the tree branches and stumps around our classroom. Ki Annabelle and I have been guiding them safely as they take on this task!

Our older kindergarteners are enjoying their Golden Knights class as they get ready to become First Graders next year. While they are out of the class, this allows the younger students who stay behind to experience a new class dynamic for a little while as they play and interact together, getting to know each other even better. This week will be a short one, as we have Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, which is a half-day, we’ll have the special opportunity to attend the Grades’ Lunar New Year performance!

Announcements & Reminders for the Honeybees:

Thank you all for signing up for conferences on  February 6th and 7th. You can view the sign-up here. Conferences will be in person at the school.  If you do not see a time that works for you, please let me know, and we will schedule a different time. Conferences are planned for 20 minutes. If you may need longer for your child's conference, please let me know before scheduling so we can work out a time that respects your time and that of other families. We ask that children do not attend conferences, allowing us to communicate in confidence.

Valentine’s Day:  As has been our tradition at The Garden School, please save all student card/gift exchanges for play dates off campus.
