Hello Second and Third Grade Families,

Happy Summer!

Hopefully, you are reading this from the sands of a beach, the slopes of a mountain, or from home, so relaxed with your family that you do not see this email for a few days. I am sure your children are enjoying time to explore their hobbies, swim at the pool, stay up a little later, and hopefully wake up a little later too.

During the last week of school, the class spent time reflecting on this school year and the years before. We shared a beautiful final morning walk together, looking through the main lesson books from other grades. The children reflected on their time in First Grade as they looked through the work in Ki Michelle’s class, remembering when they learned the alphabet and when they wrote their first words. As they peeked into the upper elementary curriculum, they were filled with anticipation and excitement. The class saw the transition into upper elementary when they viewed the work completed by Ki Nicole’s class, and many were eager for what lies ahead. When looking through the Middle School books completed by Ki Lesley’s class, the children wondered how it was possible to accomplish so much in one year, and discussions about the upcoming blocks filled them with excitement and curiosity.

I wanted to thank all of you for coming to the end of year celebration last Wednesday. The children enjoyed the opportunity to spend time together, have a small treat, and say goodbye to friends. Thank you also for the outpouring of love I received from each of you. It took me a few days to open all of the cards and to read the letters because each time I tried, I began crying! This class has brought me so much joy, and I am going to miss being with them at The Garden School next year. I learned so much from each of them, and I will always be grateful for the time we spent together.
