Kindergarten Honeybees: December 9-13, 2024

Dear Honeybee Families,

We had a week full of adventures and exploration in the Honeybees class! On Monday and Tuesday, the rainy weather brought us into our cozy indoor classroom more than usual. On Monday, we experienced the beauty of our Winter Spiral festival. It was lovely to have many of you join us and share in this magical celebration of light during the darker days of the year.

Wednesday brought a new adventure outdoors despite the wet ground. The children worked together with rakes and shovels, redirecting water around our outdoor classroom. It was wonderful to see their teamwork and problem-solving skills shine. Indoors, we embraced winter with ice painting. The children delighted in painting over ice, observing how their vibrant colors blended and transformed as the ice slowly melted. A few students were quite disappointed they couldn’t take the ice cubes home!

Our winter circle time has also grown more seasonally appropriate. We’ve added another winter-themed song to our repertoire, which we will continue singing together when we return to school in January. These seasonal songs and rhythms are such a meaningful way to connect with the changing time of the year.

A huge thank you to everyone who has come in to read stories to our class! Storytelling is at the heart of Waldorf education, as it nurtures the children’s imagination and deepens their understanding of the world. Sharing stories from your homes has added a beautiful sense of community to our classroom. The children are eagerly looking forward to more guest readers this week!

As a special treat, we’ll also be making s’mores this week since the weather didn’t cooperate last week. This is our last week before break, and I want to thank you all for making this semester so incredible. Your support has helped create a warm, nurturing space where our Honeybees can grow and thrive.

Wishing you all safe and joyful breaks, and I can’t wait to see everyone again in January!
