Middle School: March 23 - 27, 2026
Hello, Middle School Families,
Last week in History brought the class up through the Progressive Era. Centered around the biography of Ida B. Wells, students learned about the ways in which she attempted to bring light to injustices in the nation. Wells was an investigative journalist, orator, and women’s rights activist. For their Main Lesson page, students wrote a creative writing piece from the perspective of Ida B. Wells, telling a story from her life. Students wrote letters, newspaper articles, speeches, and even a short play!
Much of last week was also spent reading through the class play. As a class, we have read through it so many times, alternating so that students had the opportunity to read for almost every part. It’s a parody, and the class is really enjoying the levity it brings to our day!
Finally, the Eighth Grade students are nearing the end of their individual capstone projects. Students have turned in drafts of their research papers for review; once finalized, they will look towards preparing for their presentations. During the Eighth Grade meeting this week, the students met with Ki Gabby, viewed their pages in the yearbook, and wrote down memories to include on their individual pages. Hard to believe how close graduation is for these amazing four!
