Middle School: August 11-14, 2026
Dear Middle School Families,
The Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth graders have gotten off to a swimming start as we sail into our adventure this year. We are starting the year with a block of Geometric Drawing. Using the 360-degree circle developed by the Babylonians, we are calculating all the factors of that number to draw three- to twelve-sided shapes on paper, including the triangle, quadrilateral, hexagon, decagon, and dodecagon. In their special subject classes, the students have started singing, guitar, woodwork, handwork, and Mandarin. In Math, the Sixth graders are reviewing fractions while the Seventh and Eighth graders are beginning Algebra.
Next up for a main lesson: Astronomy. We will take the geometric lines and circles we studied in the previous block and trace them in the heavens. Each child will have nightly observations to make and write down in an astronomy journal. There will also be a written report on a planet of the student’s choosing. For a field trip, we will visit a planetarium.
