Middle School: August 17-21, 2026
Dear Middle School Families,
The students are entering their fourth week of school, and it’s not even September yet! We are transitioning to a block of Astronomy for the next three weeks. Each student will be assigned a report on a planet or other astronomical object (comets, asteroids, moons) which they will deliver in class. We have prepared for this block by the preceding three weeks of Geometrical drawing, which taught each student to identify horizons, equators, and meridians. There will also be nightly observational homework for each student and a trip to the planetarium at the science museum in Atlanta.
In Math, the Sixth Grade has finished their review of decimals and begun working on business Math. The Seventh and Eighth graders continue to explore pre-algebra. The Middle School class is also working on a recitation from Homer’s Odyssey and playing flutes each morning. A favorite song the class is singing is The Rainbow Connection, made famous by a certain green muppet frog whose voice was spoken by my 1980s classmate at the University of Colorado in the 1980s (Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson).
I am looking forward to seeing all the families at the upcoming curriculum night.
