Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: March 2-5, 2026

Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families,

Thank you so much for taking the time to participate in working on our Bluebirds auction projects. The children truly enjoyed your presence and sharing a special part of their school day with you!

Last week, the class experienced using two colors to paint. As Lady Spring was slowly making her way, Mr. Brush decided to paint her a picture. The children carefully watched the teacher's demonstration and learned to rinse their brushes after changing colors as a way to properly take care of their artistic materials. When students added yellow on top of blue, a bright color of green appeared on their paper. The children excitedly showed us their beautiful creations.

Our story, Cactus Cafe, captured everyone’s attention. It is a heartwarming community tale about building friendships. The old gnome had a cozy cactus cafe in the desert. Each day the desert friends would gather there to enjoy the old gnome's fruit smoothies and share desert adventures. The cafe was a happy meeting place for all, except for Selena the Snake, who sometimes knocked over the smoothies with her swishing tail. One day, the deer White Tail brought big news that Selena had become a mommy with three baby eggs. The old gnome loved babies and wanted to bring her a gift, since they were desert neighbors after all. The others felt a little uncertain but followed along. They gathered fruits on the way and found Selena in her cave with three baby eggs. At first, Selena felt startled, but when she saw the friendly faces, she relaxed. Everyone celebrated the coming babies and invited Selena to visit the Cactus Cafe to drink smoothies. From that day on, the friendship grew and grew in the Cactus Cafe in the desert.

Therapeutic storytelling is a gentle yet powerful way to support students’ social and emotional growth. At this developmental stage, young children actively seek connections with one another while also learning how to navigate various social situations. This story offers a safe, comforting space to explore feelings, understand differences, and build positive bonds. Each time this story was told, the children would ask to look closely at the characters and express their affection for them.

On Friday, we celebrated Finnegan’s half birthday, and we were grateful to share this meaningful day with him and his family in our class. Thank you for the delicious birthday treats!

This week, the children will learn a new spring song Near in the Yonder Forest. In addition, a new story, Little Tail’’s Spring Adventure, will be introduced. Beginning Wednesday, we will spend time in teacher-parent conferences. I am looking forward to meeting with you and supporting you and your Bluebirds on this Joyful journey.
