Middle School: September 14-18, 2026
Dear Middle School Families,
The Middle School class is coming to the end of the block on Astronomy. Before break, the students were learning about the structure of stars and the galaxies in preparation for the block test which will happen after the break. The students are presenting their planet reports in class with a question and answer period afterwards. Over the break each student will bring home a notebook to make star and planet observations - this will satisfy the requirement for the Fall day of off-site learning. When we come back on September 29th we will be visiting the Telos Science museum and planetarium. Later in the year we will take an overnight trip for stargazing. In music the class is learning a recorder piece by Beethoven and Irish Folk Tunes.
Astronomy is an especially important topic for the Middle School because at this age the students are encouraged to look outside themselves and see the world objectively. This counters the tendency of teenagers to become overly focused on the self and expands their imagination.
I hope all the families had a restful and invigorating Fall Break and am happy to see the students again as we head into the end of the month.
Class Reminders and Announcements:
Roots & Rhythm: We are excited to welcome Mari Cooper, who will lead an eight-session parent education series throughout the year. Through music, movement, and discussion, parents will explore the philosophy behind our Waldorf-inspired approach. Our first session will be held on October 3 from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Participation is expected for new parents, and all parents are warmly encouraged to join.
Parent Conferences are October 8 and 9! Please sign up here to schedule a time to meet.

October 8: Half day and Parent Conferences/Off Site Learning Day
October 9: No school and Parent Conferences/Off Site Learning Day
October 10: Community Workday
October 17: Fall Festival from 3:00-6:00 pm
