Kindergarten Chickadees: October 27 - 31, 2025
Osiyo, Chickadee Families,
Last week, the students had the opportunity to play in the water and mud provided by some much-needed rain. In addition to fun and sensory experiences, these rainy and wet days allowed students to work on fine and gross motor, and motor planning skills as they practiced putting on and removing rain and warm-weather gear, and zipping, clipping, and buttoning. The class also spent some time indoors, working on lanterns for the lantern walk later this week. The children enjoyed the activity, showing their individual personalities through their chosen designs. They have also been practicing the songs as they walk around campus, and it is beautiful to hear their voices ringing out through the forest. excited to show their families what they have learned and created!
This week, the students will create leaf paintings and explore the parts of a pumpkin. Using their fine motor, imagination, and problem-solving skills, students will work together to make a pumpkin into a lantern for our classroom. There will be pumpkin butter to try with their rice cakes, and pepitas (pumpkin seeds) with their apples and celery. The students will watch a puppet show of the lantern walk story they have been hearing, and continue practicing their songs for the lantern walk. The class will also continue talking about kindness and begin talking about gratitude.
Announcements & Reminders:
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Lantern Walk this Thursday at 6:00 pm. Please drop your child off in the sanctuary between 5:50 and 6:00 pm, then continue to our class picnic table for some information and singing practice. We will begin the story directly at 6:00 pm, so please allow time for traffic.
Please have your child practice putting on and taking off their warm-weather and rain gear independently. We understand this will take some time to learn, but practicing both at school and at home will help them gain confidence and ability quickly!

November 21: Grades Presentation in Sanctuary at 10:30 am
November 21: Thanksgiving Luncheon at 11 am (All families and students are invited)
November 24 - 28: Thanksgiving Break (No School)
