Kindergarten Honeybees: October 27 - 31, 2025

Dear Honeybee Families,

Our forest was visited last week by plentiful and much-needed rain. We spent several cozy mornings indoors, working diligently and delightfully on our lanterns. Using our watercolor paintings, the children watched the colors come to life as they rubbed oil onto the paper, making it beautifully translucent. They then carefully cut and joined the sides together, watching the magic unfold as their lanterns took shape. Finally, each child chose two pieces of yarn and finger-chained a handle to complete their lantern.

We also shared a beautiful story in harmony with our lantern walk, reminding us of the light that shines within each of us. In the story, a child who often made unkind choices noticed a special light glowing from another child. She asked, “Did you swallow a flashlight or something?” He smiled and replied that it was a special light, and that he would tell her about it only if she promised to share it with anyone who asked. He explained that everyone has this light, and it grows brighter the kinder we are. Over time, she began to make kinder choices and soon felt a warmth and joy growing inside her. She had nearly forgotten about the light until one day, a boy approached her and asked, “I’m sorry, but did you swallow a flashlight or something? You’re glowing!”

Announcements & Reminders:

In addition to calling the school, please let your class teacher know before school starts if your child is staying home from school.

With cooler mornings and windy days, please make sure children come to school with enough layers of warmth. Each child should have a coat or sweater, gloves, and warm hat.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Lantern Walk this Thursday at 6:00 pm. Please drop your child off in the sanctuary between 5:50 and 6:00 pm, then continue to our class picnic table for some information and singing practice. We will begin the story directly at 6:00 pm, so please allow time for traffic.
