Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: November 3 - 7, 2025

Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families,

Last week, we concluded our story journey with “Jack and His Candlestick.” Jack was a young boy who loved helping his father in the cornfield. One autumn day, he carried home a full basket of corn for his mother to cook for dinner. While waiting for dinner to be ready, Jack decided to play outside, and he ran up the hill behind his house. There, he discovered a small candlestick glowing faintly in the darkness. Intrigued by this tiny spark of light, Jack began to play with it, and just before it faded, he used its gentle glow to guide him home. After dinner, Jack gathered wool, a jar, and some wooden beads to make a special little home for the candlestick. This shining home became a beautiful lantern that brightened the long, dark nights. On Wednesday and Thursday, the Bluebirds students received the lanterns they made and carried them on their lantern walk.

Thank you so much for your assistance and participation in our Lantern Walk. It was a memorable experience, and the children continued to talk about it afterwards. They performed admirably during the walk. Each child walked around the sanctuary holding up the glimmer lanterns, singing "My Lantern, My Lantern." As they moved through the quiet darkness, they were reminded that by carrying their own light, they also helped to brighten the way for those around them. The finest part of our Lantern Walk was the surprise and joy the children showed when they saw their parents emerge from the dark sanctuary. In that moment, they seemed to understand that no matter where their paths lead, they can always find light and love along the way.

Starting this week, we will begin a new circle featuring songs about a cheerful squirrel named Wishky Frisky. And we will share a new story, “The Giant Turnip,” about lending a helping hand during harvesting time. On Friday, we will celebrate Balboa and Kawika's half birthday. We are looking forward to spending this special day with them and their family.
