Kindergarten Turtles: November 10-14, 2025
Greetings, Turtle Families,
What a chilly week! Thank you for sending your children dressed in layers and ready for the cold weather. Managing all those layers can be quite a task, but the Turtles are already developing the skills to put on and take off their outdoor gear independently. We work with them to turn their coats and snow pants right side out when they take them off, so they are ready to put back on later. We also continue to practice hanging up belongings and keeping their areas neat and tidy – something that is especially important during the winter months.
The start of the week brought extremely cold weather, so we spent much of Monday and Tuesday in our indoor classroom. The children enjoyed being inside and playing with different toys. Indoor play requires calm bodies and quiet voices, which is very different from our outdoor play. By midweek, we were all thankful for warmer temperatures and the chance to return to full days in the great outdoors. The freedom to run, jump, and breathe the fresh air reminded teachers and children just how lucky we are to spend our days in the forest!
With Halloween and the Lantern Walk behind us, and Thanksgiving on the way, we have made some changes to our circle. One of our new favorites is about being grateful:
I’m grateful for the air I breathe
For my friends and family
I’m grateful for my growing mind
All the things I learn and find
I’m grateful for the sun in the sky
All the trees that grow so high
I’m grateful for the food I eat
And the kind people I meet
We have so much to be grateful for
So tell me—ho, hey—
What are you grateful for today?
At the end of this song, each child has the opportunity to share what they are grateful for. It has been heartwarming to hear their responses- everything from “my family,” and “the leaves” to “dinosaurs” and “our classroom,” along with many other people, places, and things that the Turtles hold dear. Thank you for being a part of our community and sharing your children with us – we are truly grateful!
