Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: October 20 - 24, 2025
Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families,
Thank you for attending our all-school meeting and for your ongoing support of our community. Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, February 7th, at 12:30 PM.
In class, the children have been listening to a story called An Apple Who Wanted to Be a Star. It tells of an apple who wanted to be a star and live in the sky. He asked his friends how the stars moved and how he might become one. He listened carefully to all their ideas and thought and thought, but he still could not find a way to become a star. One day, two little girls came to the forest and were delighted by the apple’s sweet smell. The younger sister took a knife and gently cut the apple open. With a big surprise, she discovered a star inside. The apple that wished to be a star already had one hidden deep, deep inside all along. This lovely story carries a gentle message about self-discovery and inner beauty. When the apple was cut open at the end of story time, the children eagerly looked for the star inside, showing just how meaningful the story was to them.
Autumn is the season of apples, and it offers us a wide range of sensory exploration. Not only did we listen to an apple story, but we also used apples to make art. The children dipped slices of apples into red, yellow, and green paint and carefully pressed them onto white tea towels, making their own unique prints. Through this activity, their little hands experienced the stickiness of the paint, the slippery sensation of whirling apples through it, and the softness of the fabric. Some even mentioned how much they loved the special scent of apples mixed with the paint. The apples were cut using different types of knives, which created some slices with smooth edges and others with wavy patterns, adding even more texture to this sensory experience.
This week, we will turn our focus towards our next festival—the Lantern Walk. The Lantern Walk is a simple yet reverent event bringing to life for our little ones their role as a spark of light in the world. A story, Jack and His Candlestick, will be introduced in the class, and two lantern songs will be sung during circle time. The children will also finish making their lanterns by adding wooden beads on the handles.
