Kindergarten Honeybees: October 20 - 24, 2025

Dear Honeybee Families,

A big thank you to all those who were able to attend our All School Meeting! It was wonderful to come together as a community to share updates, celebrate our collective efforts, and discuss the exciting things ahead for our school.

For those who couldn’t make it this time, we look forward to seeing you at our next All School Meeting on Saturday, February 7th, at 12:30 p.m.

We had a lovely and fulfilling week in our Honeybee neck of the woods. At the start of the week, the children worked together to build a frame for a raised garden bed. We found the perfect sunny patch where our garden could grow, and with great collaboration, the students took turns hammering nails and holding the wooden planks steady for one another. Before long, we were ready to collect dirt and rich soil from different parts of our landscape. Along the way, we discovered soil filled with wiggly worms, which we gratefully re-homed in our future garden. Everyone joined in filling the bed, preparing it for planting. Next, we transplanted the sprouts we had grown from seed, along with marigolds, cabbage, and brussel sprouts. By the end of the week, we stood together to admire our little garden and even created a makeshift fence of sticks and kudzu vine to protect it from our furry forest friends.

The children joyfully performed their Stone Soup play, then gathered to make real stone soup using the fresh vegetables they had helped peel, chop, and prepare. It was a success with the children and extra pleasant to enjoy on our chilly morning! One child asked, “When are we having stone soup again?” Later in the week, the children delighted in the season’s gift, raking leaves into a big pile and jumping into the crunchy heap with laughter. On painting day, we explored the three primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. The children’s paintings turned out wonderfully vibrant, and we plan to transform them into lanterns for our upcoming Lantern Walk.
