Kindergarten Honeybees: January 26 - 30, 2026

Dear Honeybee Families,

Another wonderful and activity-filled week flew by. With the chilly mornings, we spent more time indoors, which the children welcomed with ease and joy. Our classroom was full of purposeful work and imaginative play as the class engaged deeply with the materials and rhythm of our day.

The children played animal and nature matching games, built intricate train routes, and worked with lacing boards, supporting concentration, sequencing, and fine motor development. Our playstand transformed into a beautiful cascade of silks, thoughtfully arranged by the students. From this emerged a “cozy corner”, complete with a kitchen, a flower vase, and animals hanging from the ceiling. This kind of open-ended, imaginative play is central to Waldorf education, nurturing creativity, cooperation, and rich inner imagery.

We introduced weaving on looms this week, and the children showed great interest, eagerly returning to their work each morning. Weaving requires patience, focus, and coordinated use of both hands, strengthening dexterity and perseverance while fostering a quiet sense of accomplishment. Our rising first graders began their first week of Golden Knights. They returned with excitement and pride, eager to guide our younger students and demonstrate how to tie beautiful knots. The children also continue to work steadily on their individual handwork sewing projects, developing skill, patience, and a connection to meaningful, practical work.

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday for the Curriculum and All-School Meeting. During our time together, we will explore the four temperaments and begin our work on the auction project. These conversations help us build a shared understanding and strengthen our community. Your presence truly matters.

Announcements & Reminders:

If your child shows symptoms of illness, we kindly ask that they remain home to rest until they are well enough to rejoin the group, helping us care for the health of the whole community.

Golden Knights Homework: Golden Knights practiced tying and untying knots during handwork last Wednesday. They brought their piece of yarn home with them and should practice tying knots until the string is too short to continue tying, and then untying all of the knots. Once they can tie and until all of the knots themselves, they are knot masters! Even knot masters should continue to practice, as this activity strengthens fingers and builds finger isolation, important skills needed for writing and drawing in First Grade.
