Kindergarten Chickadees: September 29 - October 3, 2025
Osiyo, Chickadee Families,
Last week, the students enjoyed learning about a new circle related to autumn and having an adventure to an orchard to pick apples. This circle has brought much joy and excitement as the students learn new songs and verses, and move in different and exciting ways, such as jumping, reaching up high, and moving their bodies across the space. One of the songs is in Spanish, where the children sing about the colors of fall. Throughout the week, they were overheard discussing the words (which are repeated in the song in English) and what they might mean. The words to this song are included below.
Last week and this week, the class is exploring apples through story and crafts. Students heard the story about the first apple tree and how apples came to have stars inside them. They watched as an apple was cut in half, revealing the magic star. This week, the students will have the opportunity to see a puppet show of the story, paint apple prints, and create wet-felt red, green, or yellow apples. They will enjoy homemade apple butter with rice cakes and apple-cinnamon tea.
