Kindergarten Honeybees: September 29 - October 3, 2025

Dear Honeybee Families,

What a treat it was to return to our forest after fall break and find the ground carpeted with colorful leaves! The children delighted in noticing all the new changes to our forest and nature table.

We returned to school with a new autumn circle. We begin as little squirrels scurrying up trees and gathering nuts. Then we become farmers, digging and planting seeds, which grow into vegetables, and just in time for the season- apple trees! As apple trees, we experience the different changes of the seasons before ending with a joyful planting song. The children embraced the new movements with enthusiasm and are eager to learn the singing parts as well.

Below is our tree song:

Here is my trunk, I'm a tall, tall tree

In the autumn, the apples fall from me

They drop, they drop, they drop

Here is my trunk, I'm a tall, tall tree

In the winter, the snowflakes fall on me

They glisten, they glisten, they glisten

Here is my trunk, I'm a tall, tall tree

In the springtime, the blossoms bloom on me

They bloom, they bloom, they bloom

Here is my trunk, I'm a tall, tall tree

In the summer, the breezes blow through me

I bend, I bend, I bend

Carrying on with our planting theme, the children had the chance to plant seeds of their own. They chose between arugula, beans, and beets, carefully filling their pots with soil before tucking their seeds inside. Together, we observed how each seed had a unique shape and how they ranged in size: the beans were the largest, the beets smaller, and the tiniest of all were the arugula seeds. We also shared a beloved folk tale called “Stone Soup”, which is about a hungry traveler who arrives in a village and asks one of the villagers if they have anything to share with him. At first, the villager is  reluctant, but the traveler offers to make stone soup with his special stone. Curious about the stone soup, the villager agreed, and one by one, all the villagers contributed to making the soup by bringing a vegetable. In the end, the whole community gathers to enjoy a meal together. The story reminds us of the power of generosity, cooperation, and the joy of creating something together.
