Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: November 17 - 21, 2025
Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families,
Thank you for joining us at our Thanksgiving luncheon. We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful break filled with time spent with family and friends. We’re delighted to see the children return with bright smiles and plenty of enthusiasm for play.
Before the break, the story “Giant Turnip” was a favorite in our class. This classic Russian folk tale celebrates the harvest and reminds us that everyone, no matter how small, plays an important role. Every child in our class, like the tiny mouse who finally helps pull out the giant turnip, holds value and is indispensable. Later in the week, we explored a real turnip together. The children passed it around to smell, then we chopped it open and even had a small taste test!
In our indoor classroom, the children have been investing their time in caring for baby dolls, wrapping “presents” with silks, setting up birthday parties, and reading books together. The room is designed to feel calm and homelike, offering them the time and space to bring their creative ideas to life. We often see them huddled together planning a game and hear their happy giggles as they play. The children also enjoyed their painting experience using two colors—red and yellow. As they mixed the paints, their sense of sight was enriched by the transformation. Their eyes lit up with wonder as bright orange appeared on the paper.
This week, we will gently ease back into our daily rhythm. The children will hear a new story connected to the Winter Spiral and paint with blue watercolor. The Winter Spiral is a traditional Waldorf festival that honors the seasonal cycle of light and darkness through a simple spiral labyrinth walk. This year, the Joyful Beginnings students will also take part in the walk, and we are very much looking forward to sharing this experience with them.
