Joyful Beginnings Hummingbirds: December 8-12, 2025
Dear Joyful Beginnings Hummingbirds Families,
Last week, the children enjoyed a wonderfully wintry stretch of school days. They added the finishing touches to a special “snowy” gift they have been preparing for their families, sipped warm peppermint tea (with some noting that it tasted “spicy!”), and grew ever more confident in managing their cold-weather layers.
The beauty of the season was especially present as the children walked the Winter Spiral with you. As you witnessed alongside them, the spiral’s simplicity is what makes it so deeply moving. At this stage of development, children take in the world so strongly through images; the glowing candlelight against the darkness of the room becomes an impression they carry inwardly in a meaningful way. One child, watching his classmates make their way through the spiral, turned to his mother and shared, “It’s so beautiful. I love you.” Thank you for taking the time to share this moment of stillness amongst a busy season with your children.
As we enter our final week of the semester, we will lean into the joyful anticipation the children bring to these days, weaving in a few simple, seasonal activities throughout our time together.
Please note that this week we will be sending home several items, including your child’s art notebook from the semester, special projects and gifts, and the bag of your child’s personal items kept at school. Over the break, please take a moment to review and restock this bag so it may return in January with seasonally appropriate clothing, extra layers, diapers and wipes if needed, rain gear, and any other items you wish your child to have at school.
We wish you a peaceful and meaningful winter break and look forward to welcoming the children back in the new year.

January 7th: Tour for current families interested in learning more about our Grades & Kindergarten Programs at 9:30 am
