Second & Third Grade: May 19-23, 2025

Happy Summer, Second and Third Grade Families,

What a magical school year this was!

The last week of school was filled with laughter, jokes, games, and happiness. We began each day with a morning tea and a walk to the farm. The children love singing to the goats and donkeys, and each child was encouraged to pick a favorite song they had learned from any year they spent at The Garden School. Some children picked songs they learned in kindergarten, and some picked songs they had just learned this month. The donkeys and goats made a wonderful audience- sometimes the goats would even seem to dance to the singing. I’m sure the animals are curious as to where their morning concert has gone. We spent several mornings reading the books the children brought in from home, and the children loved sharing their stuffed animals with their peers. They even set up a table in the back of the room where they could sit and “learn” with us during the Main Lesson. Field Day was held on a beautifully warm and sunny day, so the children were able to play the entire day and loved drenching each other with the water toys that were shared. Thursday, we enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies together and sharing them on a picnic. Baking together is always such a good bonding experience as the children work together as a team to accomplish something they all can enjoy. On Friday, we played. We played at the farm, in the forest, and we visited the creek. There were several games of baseball and children pretending to be puppies. The students enjoyed coloring on the chalkboard and sharing company with the other classes. After school, the Grade students and families all celebrated a joyous year.

To those of you who are returning next year, I am so excited to see you in the fall. To those of you who are off to new adventures, I wish you the greatest happiness. This year, we combined two very different groups and made a class family. Thank you to each Second/Third Grade family for raising such incredible children and for being so supportive this year.

Warm regards,

Meredith
