Kindergarten Turtles: August 11 - August 15, 2025
Greetings, Turtle Families,
We had a lovely few days getting to know one another in the forest! It was wonderful to see our Turtle families together at Meet and Greet on Saturday, the 9th. Though our first week was short, it was filled with excitement as the children explored our forest classroom and began making new friends. Everyone played nicely together, and it was fun to watch them discover each other and all that our classroom has to offer. The mud kitchen and digging area were favorite spots in the forest, and on the platform, the children enjoyed the peg dolls and blocks. The rain each evening added just the right ingredient, water, for stirring, pouring, and creating delightful mud kitchen “specialties”. As the children played, we noticed many creatures- spiders, ants, caterpillars, birds, and butterflies that share our forest classroom with us. These moments of discovery are full of wonder and curiosity.
The week was all about settling in, getting to know each other, and becoming familiar with our space. We also began to establish a gentle rhythm to guide us through our days together. We enjoyed a story about a Mommy Cloud and a scared little raindrop who gathered up its courage to fall to the earth. There, the little raindrop finds raindrop friends, and together they journey into the roots of a plant. They climb the stem to the top and help a flower bud blossom. They play on the flower petals until the afternoon sun is bright in the sky, then Mommy Cloud, with the sun’s help, collects them all again. It was a pleasure to sit together on our platform and enjoy story time, snacks, lunch, and rest. The children eagerly conversed with one another and with their teachers; our beautiful class community is already beginning to blossom. We had a wonderful first week, and we are so excited to spend this school year together, learning and growing in the Turtle class. Thank you for sharing your children with us!
