Kindergarten Chickadees: August 11 - August 15, 2025
Osiyo, Chickadee Families,
What a wonderful first few days of school last week! The children all enjoyed each other’s company as they explored the classroom forest and platform, and appeared confident advocating for themselves if they had questions or needed something from a teacher. The students spent these first few days playing and getting to know each other and their environment. Fast friendships are already forming, and construction is underway as a group of students works to build a neighborhood on our hill. Other children have found joy in counting and sorting gems or playing house with peg dolls on the platform. Everyone is quickly settling in and feeling at home in the Chickadee class.
This week, we will begin our typical class rhythm, which includes daily structured activities. Students started the week with watercolor painting. In Kindergarten, we begin with one color, allowing the children to experience the color as it moves across the page, changing in form and shade while they work. All paintings and drawings, except for special projects, will initially stay at school. At the end of the semester, they will be organized chronologically and sent home as books.
After the second full week of school, I will reach out to give you a brief picture of your child’s experience at school so far. This call will be followed up with a communication form for documentation; please do not be concerned if you receive a form from Transparent Classroom at that time. You will also receive an invitation this week or next to a Google Photos album. This will be our class album with photos taken throughout the week of the class; the aim is to upload the images each week.
