Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: August 18-22, 2025

Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families,

The first week has been wonderful for our Bluebirds friends. We were gradually establishing our daily rhythm and adjusting to our in-and-out transition periods. The children move more mindfully when they hear teachers say “quiet voices and walking feet.” They are learning how to make friends and interact with one another; occasionally, reminders like “gentle hands” are provided. During each transition, a special song was introduced to the children. These simple, repetitive songs help the children attune themselves to the rhythm of the day and support their emotional well-being by providing a calming structure. You can find the songs in our class drive. When walking from our indoor nest to our outdoor nest, we have a rope for the children to hold onto in line. Each child gets his or her “mousy ear” to hold tightly so that we can safely move from one space to another. With the coolness the trees provided us, the children enjoyed exploring the forest. We were reminding the children to stay inside our blue ribbons in our forest classroom. Please help us remind your children about using the “mousy ear” and staying in our blue ribbons as well. We want to keep each child happy and secure in school.

In circle time, we learned the Greeting song and Bluebird song as well as each other’s names. A nursery rhyme puppetry, “Ickle, Ockle, Blue Bockle,” was presented in the class. It's a simple but heartwarming narrative that introduces the children to the magical world of storytelling. This week, we will add a new verse to welcome our friends, along with a puppet play about a baby bluebird. Thank you so much for bringing apples on Mondays and Thursdays as important ingredients for our shared snack. Once the children are more familiar with our routine, we will assist them in chopping apples to help prepare the snacks.
