Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds: February 3 - 7, 2025

Dear Joyful Beginnings Bluebirds Families,

Thank you so much for attending our Parent Conferences on Thursday and Friday. We look forward to continuing to work with you and helping each child grow and thrive.

We enjoyed a fantastic week and appreciated the warmth from Father Sun. The children were able to spend a significant amount of time outside in the mornings, participating in active play with their friends. To improve the children's fine motor skills and grow stronger fingers, they began to use scissors to cut at school. Each of them was given tissue strips to cut into smaller pieces for use in decorating Valentine's hearts. The students have shown a strong interest and worked diligently. On Wednesday, we were grateful to celebrate Ellis' birthday with him and his family. Thank you very much for the tasty birthday treats.

The children adored the zodiac story. A long time ago, twelve animals were debating about naming a year after themselves. They disturbed the Jade Emperor, who proposed that the animals compete in a swimming race across the river. The first animal to win would be honored by having the first year named after him. The rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig arrived in succession. The first year was named after the rat, and the following years were named after the animals in the order in which they completed the race. Since that day, the zodiac has followed a 12-year cycle. The children enjoyed seeing the 12 animals and were curious to find out who would appear next. This story not only introduces our younger students to a different culture but also illustrates the concept of sequence in a playful way. On Thursday, we experienced a fantastic Lunar New Year performance put on by the grade-level students.

Starting this week, we will share a sweet story called A Million Valentines. In addition, the children will glue the tissue squares they cut out onto the hearts they painted last week to make Valentine's Day decorations.

We hope you enjoy the Mid-Winter break!
