Speciality Highlight May 2025:Music
First- Third Grade:
As the school year comes to a close, our First Graders have shown great improvement in singing together. In preparation for their upcoming play, they’ve been enthusiastically rehearsing the songs, giving their best effort to sing clearly, confidently, and in tune with their classmates in front of an audience.
Our Third Graders have also taken their singing to the next level. They are improving their skills in singing rounds, making excellent progress in staying on their part and maintaining the rhythm of the songs.
All students in grades 1 through 3 have made wonderful progress learning to play the pentatonic recorder this year. They’ve worked hard to improve their fingering techniques and enjoy playing short melodies together. One of the highlights of the music classes has always been the opportunity for students to compose their own short pieces, which they present in small groups to the class.
It has been a joy to watch the musical growth of grades 1 through 3 throughout the year.

Greetings from the music room.
Besides being busy preparing for assemblies, the children have been playing games to learn the basics of music notation and music theory. We have been playing a version of putt putt and a card game called Interval Initiate and Interval War.
We had an amazing field trip to The Woodruff Arts Center where the children were treated to a behind the scenes tour and a Mozart Quartet performed by members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. They learned a lot about the jobs associated with the world class Orchestra, saw the Theater and Visual Arts department and they got to ask questions to the guide and the musicians. It was a wonderful learning experience for them.
Warmly,
Ki Ben
