Fourth & Fifth Grade: May 12-16, 2025

Dear Fourth and Fifth Grade Families,

As we enter our final week of school, it’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by. Last week, we wrapped up our Ancient Egypt Main Lesson block, diving into the rich and mysterious world of one of the most iconic civilizations in history. The students explored hieroglyphs and sacred symbols, learned about the construction and meaning of the pyramids, and ventured into the mythological journey through the Duat—the Egyptian underworld. We spent time learning about the gods and goddesses such as Isis, Osiris, and Anubis, and reflected on the ancient Egyptians’ fascinating beliefs around life after death.

The students put the finishing touches on their Main Lesson books, and it was wonderful to see the pride they took in their work. Their drawings, summaries, and attention to detail brought all the blocks to life, and their books are truly something to be proud of.

Of course, one of the biggest highlights of the week was finally performing our class play! After weeks of rehearsals, anticipation, and preparation, the students stepped onto the stage and gave a fantastic performance. Though many were nervous (as most performers are!), they showed great courage, focus, and joy as they brought their characters to life. It was heartwarming to see how they supported one another and came together as a true ensemble. Thank you to all the families who supported this effort—we couldn’t have done it without your help and encouragement!

This final week of school is all about celebration, connection, and joyful closure. We have a number of exciting and memorable activities planned, including:

  • An Ice Cream Sundae Bar, where students can build their dream dessert

  • Tie-dyeing t-shirts, which they will proudly wear on the last day

  • A delicious Pizza Party

  • A fun-filled Field Day with outdoor games and friendly competition

  • A special Favorite Dish Potluck to share and celebrate together

  • And even a hands-on, creative Mummy-Making activity as a lighthearted end to our Egypt studies!

These shared experiences give them a chance to celebrate all that they have accomplished together this year—academically, socially, artistically, and emotionally. Your children have grown in so many ways, and I am deeply grateful for the journey we’ve shared.

Thank you for being such an important part of this class community. Your support, communication, and enthusiasm have made all the difference. Here's to a wonderful last week of school and a well-deserved summer ahead!
