Kindergarten Honeybees: April 13 - 17, 2026

Dear Honeybee Families,

The Honeybees had a wonderful and nourishing week back at school. Our forest seemed much greener than when we had left it. We introduced a new spring morning circle, and by the second day, many of the children were already singing along to its cheerful and memorable tune.

Our story was a gentle story about a little girl who loved to play all day. When her mother asked for help, she asked for just a little more time. As she went outside, she observed the quiet work of the world around her - an ant carrying a crumb, a squirrel gathering nuts, a bee collecting sweetness, and even a flower drawing in sunlight and water. Realizing that everything in nature has its own work and purpose, she reflected and chose to return home to help her mother.

Our much-anticipated creekcess has returned! With the beautiful weather, the creek was sparkling and full of life. The students discovered tadpoles and small schools of fish, and joyfully immersed themselves in play such as digging channels in the sand, creating waterfalls, and searching for precious stones. Their play was rich, collaborative, and full of wonder.

The final stages of our auction project was completed! The children dyed four pouches using natural pigments, first preparing the dyes by placing flowers in jars of water and allowing them to steep in the sunlight over several days. They observed this slow transformation with curiosity and care. When the pouches were finally dipped, the class delighted in watching the colors emerge- orange, yellow, blue indigo, and purple, experiencing both creativity and a deep sense of accomplishment through their work. Finally the students had a turn to play with our seasonal play auction project, carefully arranging each item into its proper season before engaging in imaginative play. Each item was much cherished! A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who helped contribute and bring this project together so beautifully. Special gratitude to our auction representative, Tasha, for thoughtfully coordinating among families, needle felting our sweet forest friends, and sourcing the lovely box and silk, complete with the addition of charming honeybee tealights. Thank you to Lauren for the precious hand-sewn seasonal trees, to Sarah for sewing the perfect sized pouches, Sarah’s sister for her beautifully crafted clay nature items, and to Julia for the lovely seasonal peg dolls. Each contribution added such care and magic to this shared work.
