Kindergarten Turtle: April 20 - 24, 2026
Greetings, Turtle Families,
Thank you to everyone who participated in Friday’s Auction Fundraiser. It was a success and so much fun! It was lovely to see all of the class projects, share a meal, and have time to connect, chat, and “shop” together as adults. We are so grateful for your support, both in completing our class project and in all the ways you support our school!
Over the last two weeks, our story has been an adaptation of the folktale "The Carrot." In our story, Robin wakes early in the spring and sings a beautiful song before flying off in search of breakfast. He finds two bright orange carrots, eats one, and leaves the other for his friend, Freida the Donkey. Freida, awakened early in the morning by Robin’s song, has already found her own breakfast of delicious spring cabbage, so she passes the carrot along to her friend Rabbit. Finding Rabbit not at home, she leaves the carrot for him…on and on the story goes with the carrot being thoughtfully passed from friend to friend until it eventually makes its way back to Robin’s nest. It is a gentle and sweet story about kindness and caring for one another. The children loved hearing it, watching the puppet play, and bringing it to life themselves through our class play. Participating in a class play gently supports language, memory, and understanding, while also building confidence, cooperation, and a sense of connection through a shared experience. We will begin a new story this week.
We also had the opportunity to attend a special performance by the Seventh Grade students. They composed original music to accompany the children’s book In the Meadow. One student read the story aloud while others performed their composition using piano, rain stick, talking drum, and glockenspiel. The Turtles listened with great interest and enjoyment. This week, we look forward to attending performances by the sixth and eighth grades as well. These experiences are such a gift for our younger students, offering meaningful connection with older students. We are always so impressed by their creativity and work. Thank you, Ki Stephanie, for inviting us to these performances!
Announcements and Reminders:
Please send two full water bottles with your child each day. As the weather warms up, the children are drinking more water throughout the day. If bottles are coming home still full, it is likely because we have refilled them at school.
TGS Families are invited to attend Class Plays, Presentations, and School Assemblies!
We hope you will join us!
