Kindergarten Honeybees: April 20 - 24, 2026

Dear Honeybee Families,

We had a wonderful turnout for our annual Spring Auction. Thank you to all the parents who contributed. Your presence and participation in our school community are essential for the school’s well-being and growth, and deeply valued.

Our class was gifted with another beautiful week together. We celebrated the “almost” birthday of our dear Ezra and loved hearing stories from his childhood. Thank you for the precious goody bags shared with the children- they were received with such joy.

In honor of Earth Day, the Honeybees walked around campus collecting litter. The students were deeply engaged and delighted, moving with a true sense of purpose and stewardship. The story “Our Pretty Planet” highlights the beauty and wonder of the Earth and the ways we can care for it. The children eagerly contributed their own ideas and reflections.

Exploring the farther end of the creek was an exciting time for the class. With the warm sunshine, the class eventually moved to a shaded area to continue their play. Once back at class, the children created a sweet honeybee craft with flapping wings- cutting strips, coloring their bees, and assembling them with care. They watched with wonder as their bees “came to life,” opening their wings toward the small flowers they made.

The Honeybees enjoyed a puppet show based on the story of the little child who loved to play. Afterward, students delighted in playing with the felted ant, red squirrel, bee, and flower. Puppet show days are always special; the children eagerly helped prepare the scene and immersed themselves in the storytelling, exploring roles that foster imagination and cooperative play.

The freesia plants, which started from bulbs weeks ago, were brought home by each student. Witnessing the journey from bulb to leaf (and hopefully soon to a fragrant flower) is a gift. This practice gently nurtures a sense of responsibility, care, and appreciation for the rewards that come from sustained, attentive care over time. The simple, practical work of caring for a plant supports a child’s development of patience, observation skills, and a growing sense of confidence that carries into both academic work and social-emotional growth.

Announcements & Reminders:

As the mornings are still quite chilly, please ensure your child comes to school with a light sweater. Our classroom also receives ample sunshine, so we highly recommend sending your child with a sun hat for comfort and protection.
