Kindergarten Chickadees: April 27 - May 1, 2026

Osiyo, Chickadee Families,

Last week, the Chickadee class had the pleasure of watching and hearing a special performance by the Eighth Graders. The older middle school students composed music that they played while reading a book to the kindergarten classes. The Chickadees enjoyed the story and music and asked questions about the instruments played. This Monday, the Chickadees were also fortunate to watch the dress rehearsal for the First Grade play. It was such fun to watch these inspiring performers tell a story that many of the kindergarteners recognized. The Golden Knights realized that next year it will be their turn to perform a play for the kindergarten students!

The welcome rain last week brought back the joy of digging, and a group of children used shovels and dump trucks to move dirt, creating a large mound to stand on and drive on. Other students created a sweet home for the worms and grubs they found, and yet others combined wet dirt with more water to make sticky mud, which they molded into shapes and stuck to trees and the climbing fort. This week looks to be a combination of dry and wet days, meaning plenty of opportunities to continue in this work. Hopefully, the class will be able to make a trip to the creek a day or two early in the week. The class will also return to painting on Wednesdays now that the Golden Knights class has ended. The students are excited to create decorative covers for their drawing and painting books, which will go home soon.

Announcements & Reminders:

Please continue to send rain gear daily. Please also have your child bring a sweatshirt or light jacket and long pants every day. It is helpful to have these items in case the forest feels cooler than expected, even if the forecast is for warmer weather.
