Kindergarten Honeybees: April 27 - May 1, 2026
Dear Honeybee Families,
The Honeybees shared another beautiful week together, rain and shine. The much-needed rainstorm brought us indoors, where the children watercolor painted with radiant reds, yellows, and blues against the gentle backdrop of falling rain; it was a truly cozy day. The class also enjoyed a special visit from the grades Spanish class, who beautifully sang a traditional song in Spanish that holds deep cultural pride and meaning for many Venezuelans. The children listened with great attention and joy, sharing in a rich moment of music, language, and cultural connection within our school community.
When we were finally able to make our way outside, puddles were immediately splashed in and little hands became covered in luscious mud. While some children preferred getting muddy, others worked diligently on handwork projects, creating animals and finger chains with colorful new yarn.
Our nature walks brought many treasures this week. The students carefully observed turtles sunbathing on logs, tiny grasshoppers, ladybugs resting on leaves, and even a limpkin visiting the pond for the very first time. These shared discoveries foster wonder, observation skills, and a growing relationship with the living world around us.
The kudzu is back in service, and the children delighted in pulling off the leaves while the goats and donkeys delighted even more in eating them. We also discovered two chicken eggs in our coop, a variety of colorful flowers blooming in the garden, and a very spiky thistle plant crowned with beautiful purple pom-pom flowers. The students quietly made our way to the dock to see whether any creatures would surface from the water and were pleased to spot a few turtles lifting their curious heads before quickly ducking back beneath the surface.
