Hello Second and Third Grade Families,

Tonight, the class performed their play Aesop’s Fables, and they did wonderfully. The students should be proud of all the effort they put into the show. Each one not only learned lines for three to four parts, but also helped create the set and costumes. The play truly belonged to them, and their dedication showed. Thank you to the parents who donated food for the cast party. It was a lovely way to celebrate their achievements.

Now that the play is finished, the class will spend the next two weeks creating their Native American villages. Each village will include a written report and a collection of artifacts representing the culture of their chosen group. Students will also create large dioramas of their village. They are excited about this hands-on project, and their completed work will be on display on May 15th after the school assembly.

In addition to their academic work, the class has enjoyed spending extra time at the creek over the past two weeks. Together, they’ve created an elaborate system of tunnels that begin at the top of the sandy banks and extend into the water. These tunnels connect and cross over one another in intricate ways. It’s amazing what children can create when they let their imaginations shine.

It is hard to believe the school year is coming to an end, but the final days are quickly approaching. Please note a few important dates: Field Day will take place on May 19th, and the last day of school is May 20th, which will be a full day this year. On that day, we will celebrate all the work the students have done. You can also expect students to begin bringing home their materials between May 15th and May 20th, including main lesson books, paintings, form drawings, and cursive books.
