Kindergarten Turtles: May 4 - 8, 2026
Greetings, Turtle Families,
Thank you to the whole parent community and the children for showering the teachers and staff with love last week. Everything you provided for us was so thoughtful and beautiful, and we truly felt loved and appreciated!
Last week, the children worked on a special project, creating wood and string art pieces. First, each child sanded a live-edge wood round. They worked with patience and care to smooth the rough wood and were surprised by how much hard work sanding required. Many students shared that their arms were tired by the time they finished. Next, the children taped a heart shape onto the wood and hammered nails along the outline. Each child took great care while hammering, spacing the nails thoughtfully, straightening them if they began to bend, and making sure each nail was secure before moving on to the next one. This was a one-on-one activity with the teacher to ensure safety, but the children did the work themselves. Once all the nails were in place, the students chose from a selection of beautiful wool and cotton yarns and carefully wrapped the yarn around the nails to create their art pieces. Each heart was unique and beautiful, and the students were so proud and excited to bring them home to share with their families.
Announcements and Reminders:
During the final week of school, we will NOT have our usual shared snack, Please be sure to send your child with a snack each day.
Students will need a change of clothes every day, as we will play at the creek as often as possible.
Please send two full water bottles to school daily; students feel the warmer temperatures and drink a lot of water!
Please make sure to pack insect repellent in your child’s backpack.
We are looking forward to a week of special activities before we say goodbye for the summer:
Monday, 5/18, students are invited to bring a favorite stuffed animal from home. Stuffed animals should easily fit in backpacks and be OK to get dirty. Also, on Monday, we will chop Strawberries to be used in our Sorbet later in the week.

Wednesday, 5/20, we will have a Treasure hunt throughout the forest, and we will share strawberry sorbet with our snack from home. Sorbet ingredients will be strawberries (donated by class parents), honey, and filtered water.
