Second & Third Grade: December 8-12, 2025
Hello Second and Third Grade Families,
Thank you to the parents who came and supported our visit to The Benton House yesterday. The residents loved hearing the children sing and enjoyed the cookies they prepared for them! Thank you also to those who were able to attend Winter Spiral. It is always beautiful watching the children bring their light and warmth into the darkness of winter.
Last week, the children spent Main Lessons engulfed in writing activities. Some of the students spent time completing their gingerbread house writing, while others wrote about what they would do with a snowman if it came to life. The students all have individual goals for their writing, and we have also set an end-of-year goal for both Second and Third graders. Second Grade's goal is to write a paragraph which consists of three to five sentences on a single topic with proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. Third Grade's goal is writing four short paragraphs on a single topic with an introduction and ending paragraph. With each writing topic, students first brainstorm ideas, organize their thoughts, and then write a rough draft before completing their final copy.
This week is a week of fun! The class is making winter crafts, completing their gingerbread dioramas, which will be on display for the school on Wednesday, and celebrating the festive season. On Thursday, we will hold our annual winter celebration with our sock exchange and hot chocolate. Students are welcome to wear their favorite pajamas and bring a stuffed animal.
