Kindergarten Chickadees: January 26 - 30, 2026
Osiyo, Chickadee Families,
The Chickadee class enjoyed time both indoors and out, in rain and sun, last week. The students showed incredible resilience and delight in the outdoors, excitedly running off to dig burrows in Honey Mountain for their pet (pinecone) mice, cover and push their baby (rope) snakes in the wheelbarrow, build homes, forts, and firestations on the tree fort and under the slide, and create delicious meals in the mud kitchen. On Thursday and Friday, the children enjoyed time at the farm and nature walks. Indoors, the Chickadees focused on fine motor activities, including drawing, working with beeswax, manipulating gems with pincers, and putting together puzzles. They continued to grow their imagination and memory as they created stories together using story stones, and increased their capacity for logic and reasoning through games such as High Ho Cherry Oh and Connect Four.
Beginning this week, our weekly activities schedule and our daily schedule will have some changes. Rising First Graders will attend the Golden Knights program on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings from 9:15 - 10:15 am. Due to the addition of this program in the second semester, the new Chickadee activity schedule will be as follows:
Monday: Farm (11:30-12:10)
Tuesday: Drawing (11:50-12:10)
Wednesday: Mindfulness and Nature Journaling (11:45-12:10)
Thursday: Painting (9:00-9:30)
Friday: Farm/Nature Walk (9:30-10:15)
Announcements & Reminders:
Please send your child with full cold/wet weather gear, including insulated boots and snow or rain pants, every day. In the colder months, the forest can stay damp long after the rain has subsided.
The Chickadee class is hosting the upcoming Community Work Day this Saturday, January 31st, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. While not mandatory, please attend if you are able. We will be beautifying the campus for the admissions season and performing other indoor and outdoor tasks.
