Dear Fourth and Fifth Grade Families,
We warmly invite you to join us for the annual school Auction, a beloved community event that promises to be a night of fun, connection, and celebration. You’ll have the opportunity to bid on beautiful handmade class projects, unique services, and other exciting items—all while supporting our school. We hope to see you there!
Last week, the class had a wonderful time on our first field trip of the year to the Yellow River Game Ranch. With a guided tour, students had the chance to ask thoughtful questions and observe incredible animals up close, including lemurs, deer, otters, wolves, and coyotes. It was a joyful day of discovery and connection with the animal world.
Back in the classroom, excitement is building around our upcoming class play, which will be performed on Monday, May 6. Students received their parts last Thursday and have eagerly begun immersing themselves in their characters. They are working collaboratively, developing stage presence, and bringing the story to life with creativity and enthusiasm. In academics, we continue to deepen our understanding of fractions through hands-on practice, story problems, and artistic representations. Our spelling work has become more challenging, helping students stretch their vocabulary and sharpen their writing skills.
This week, students will continue our play preparations, rehearsing scenes and refining our expression and movement. The play process is more than just performance—it nurtures imagination, cooperation, and a sense of responsibility to the whole group. They will also begin the final block of the year: Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. These two ancient civilizations will serve as windows into the early development of human culture, writing, governance, and spiritual life. Students will be introduced to these cultures through rich stories, mythologies, artistic work, mapmaking, and dramatization, allowing the children to experience the wonder and wisdom of early civilizations with both head and heart.
