Speciality Highlight March 2026: Parent Handwork

Parent Handwork at The Garden School

What is Parent Handwork:

Parents’ Handwork is open to all school parents. All skill levels are welcome; no prior experience is required.

Led by Ki Ieva, parents are guided step by step in exploring and learning many of the same handwork skills taught in the Grades program.

The heart of Parents’ Handwork is community—coming together to learn, create, and support one another.

What have we been doing:

Since our last update—before the Kingdom of Halloween—parents created dolls in all styles and sizes, from simple pocket babies to full-size Waldorf dolls.

A big help with this work has come from one of our talented parents, who is also a dollmaker. Her beautiful work will be featured in the Auction.

In January, we learned mending, practicing ways to repair and care for our favorite clothing and textiles.

In February, we worked on knitting, exploring stitches and working on projects to build our skills.

What are doing:

Now, in March, we are learning how to crochet, discovering new patterns and techniques to make a variety of items.

In April, we will begin wet felting and needle felting, bringing together color, texture, and creativity.

Please join us on Friday mornings. We will be happy to see new faces and build our Handwork community.
