Kindergarten Turtles: March 23 - 27, 2026

Greetings, Turtle Families,

It was a wonderful first full week of spring. The classroom was especially beautiful as the warm afternoon sun shone through the trees. Along with the sunshine came lots and lots of pollen; despite that, we were grateful to welcome Spring!

Our story was about three little mole sisters. One of the sisters, Tiny, was very adventurous and often explored beyond the hole they called home. On her journeys, she met a worm, a centipede, and a snake, each of whom told her astonishing things about the world “up-above”. Tiny would eagerly hurry home to tell her sisters what she had learned, but they always dismissed her stories as “nonsense” and “silliness”, content in their little mole hole. Tiny, thinking about all of the astonishing things she had been told, decided to explore the “up-above” for herself. There she discovered that everything she had been told was true – there was light and day! She saw so many new things, and she discovered SPRING! She hurried back to the hole to tell her sisters - I wonder if her sisters will believe her???

With the warmer weather, handwork has been available more often. Several children have been busy sewing and beading. These activities help develop fine motor skills and lay important foundations for mathematical thinking. The children are working on sewing beanbags, carefully making small, close-together stitches, to keep their filling inside. It is lovely to see their skills with a needle improve. Thank you to Hazel’s family for their donation of beautiful beads, yarn, ribbon, and wood rounds. We used the ribbon to add beauty to the rope border along one side of our classroom. It is colorful and pretty as it dances in the wind. The Turtles also created nature mandalas on the wood rounds, using treasures they collected such as maple “helicopter” seeds, sweetgum balls, sticks, pinecones, wood chips, and seed pods. This work supports creativity, pattern-making skills, and a deep appreciation for nature

We look forward to hosting friends and family for Grandfriends’ Tea tomorrow!
