Kindergarten Honeybees: August 17-21, 2026
Dear Honeybee Families,
We had a beautiful week together in our Honeybee forest! It was our first full week of school, and we were able to settle into the rhythm of our days and participate in all of our weekly activities. The children enjoyed handwork, finger knitting necklaces and crowns with thick yarn. These quickly became props for imaginative play on the platform, with princes and princesses floating about with long silks trailing behind them. It has been such a joy to watch their imaginations lead their play and activities.
The class had a peaceful watercolor painting time with yellow. The children took their time, painting quietly and thoughtfully. Thankfully, the weather also allowed us to enjoy creekcess! The students delighted in exploring the creek, discovering seashells, interesting rocks, and other little treasures. The week ended with our first entry in our drawing books. We brought a mat to a shady, peaceful spot in the forest, where the children settled in and quietly drew with crayons. There was also a lovely surprise on our way down to the platform—a grapevine covered in grapes growing right at the entrance to our class!
Our forest was full of other wonderful activity throughout the week. The children built a beautiful fairy house in the place where our old, beloved tree once stood. They colored the tree stump with chalk, decorated it, and took great care in sweeping and tending to the space. Elsewhere in the forest, children worked together to build a termite pile that seemed to grow bigger and bigger each day! Additionally, there was also a great excavation effort underway in our digging zone, where many dinosaur bones were said to have been discovered. The Honeybees had plenty of visitors throughout the week, from large, slimy slugs and earthworms to butterflies fluttering through the trees. The forest was truly humming with activity, imagination, and joy.
