Joyful Beginnings Hummingbirds: August 31-September 4, 2026
Dear Hummingbird Families,
Thank you to everyone that attended our Curriculum Night, it was nice seeing you again. We really appreciate your time, effort and attention as we grow and walk on this journey to best nourish our children together.
Our little Hummingbirds continue to grow in courage, confidence, and connection as we settle into the rhythm of our days. Last week, we began preparing for our Day of Courage by coloring our crowns. Working with the warm, golden color of yellow, the children added their own touches to these special crowns as we slowly prepared for our Day of Courage (Michaelmas) celebration. This week, we have begun our Courage Story, inviting the children into a world of imagination, movement, and song. As the story unfolds, we are exploring the quiet strength that lives within each of us and discovering that courage can take many forms.
Our story is also continuing to find its way into our hands. The children will be creating their own capes through the process of preparing and dyeing the fabric, giving them an opportunity to experience the transformation of something simple into something meaningful and full of imagination. Little by little, our crowns, capes, stories, songs, and shared experiences are weaving together to create a meaningful seasonal journey. Seasonal festivals are a cherished part of Waldorf education, offering children the opportunity to experience the qualities of the season through stories, crafts, songs, and shared traditions. We are taking our time, allowing the children to experience this work through their hands, their bodies, and their imaginations.
We also had two very special birthdays in our classroom. We celebrated Lenny turning three on Wednesday, and Ruby turning three on Friday! We gathered around each birthday child to share their story, sing together, enjoy the glow of candlelight, and send them warm wishes as they began another journey around the sun.
May these golden days help each little Hummingbird discover a brave heart, a helping hand, and the courage to shine their own light.
