Fifth Grade: May 8-12, 2023

Dear Fifth-Grade Families,

It was a busy week as we ramped up for our play this Thursday.   The students spent last week rehearsing lines, working on stage presence, and planning how to enter and exit the stage for each scene.  Ki Kathee has joined us for several practices, helping us with placement, music, and other aspects of our play.  Our play will be followed by a cast party at the picnic tables; please sign-up to bring some goodies if you can do so!

Today, we had the opportunity to try out the pizza oven our class built out of clay harvested around campus, led by Mr. Matan.  Firewood is stored in the lower half, and a fire is built in the top part of the oven.  Once good and hot, the coals are pushed aside, and the pizza is placed inside to bake.  In addition to eating homemade pizza baked in the oven they built themselves, the students enjoyed s’mores.  What an amazing experience for the class!

Reminders:

Now that the weather is (finally!) warming, please equip your child with sun hats, insect repellent, 2 filled water bottles, and water shoes. Creekcess will begin soon, and students may only go in the water if they have hard-soled, closed-toed shoes for the creek.
