Dear Second-Grade families,
Last week, the students were excited to be back at school together after the break and share what they had done over the holidays. During class, we used the week for math review. We added practicing cursive writing to our weekly schedule. After daily warm-up exercises, the students were eager to write the cursive C, A, and D. By year-end, the students will have learned to write each letter of the alphabet individually and join letters that do not connect at the baseline. From third grade on, all our handwriting will be in cursive.
Starting this week, the students will learn to play the recorder. Practice will begin on Wednesday during the Music lesson with Ki Kathee where they will be spaced them appropriately for this activity. The students will also regularly practice playing the recorder during main lessons. On Tuesdays, the second grade will join Ki Rachel and the third grade in the garden to help them with their gardening and animal chores.
You can find the new specials schedule for this semester on Google classroom.
Happy New Year,
Gaby Farrokhi
