Dear Second-Grade Families
This week, the students enjoyed reading together with third grade at the farm with Ki Rachel on Tuesday. In our daily handwriting practice, the students learned to write the letters G,H, and T in cursive. We also finished a few math main lesson pages with drawing complicated geometric patterns that emerge by connecting dots on a circle from multiplication facts. The most complicated forms were the twelve-pointed stars that emerged from connecting multiples of five and multiples of seven. The class is now moving on to a new main lesson block.
During painting, the students practiced lifting the watercolor off the paper with their paintbrushes to get ready for painting a winter-themed picture. After painting the whole page blue, they took a clean paintbrush to lift color off the paper and experimented with revealing white spaces.
In Music, Ki Kathee has introduced the recorders to the class. She explained how to take care of the recorders to the students. The class practiced playing different rhythms on their percussion instruments and is getting ready to sing in rounds.
Thank you to all families who came to help at our community workday this past Saturday. Your help is greatly appreciated.
