Dear Third and Fourth-Grade families,
Although fall does not officially start until Thursday, last week definitely rang in the fall weather. The mornings at the Garden School were crisp, and the days were sunny and pleasantly warm. In our main lesson, we moved into our new farming block. The class started reading Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White, a children’s classic first published in 1952, seventy years ago. The whole class will take turns reading the book aloud together. We are keeping the books at school. Please visit the local library to check out a copy for read-aloud practice at home. The class also practiced dictation, requiring students to concentrate on listening and correct spelling. We will now continue with looking at the tasks of a farmer and different grains.
In Spanish class, the class is practicing to greet each other, saying their names and how old they are. They are also learning vocabulary related to going to school. In handwork, the students are finishing up their weavings and moving on to their next projects.
We will be celebrating the Day of Courage on Friday. Remember to send your students wearing red or gold this Friday! Please let me know if your child needs help sourcing a red or yellow/gold shirt by the end of day Tuesday. If you have extras, please let us know so we can share them with others who may not have found a source readily. Regardless of shirt color, all students will be participating in the Day of Courage activities!
